Cutting, cutting, cutting.......

Busy cutting up kits for our Girls in Stitches retreat. The projects are all great & we know you are in for a wonderful day with our very talented tutors: Lisa, Kerry & Viv. If you are still undecided about whether to join us, we still have a some spots for Sunday 9th. Call & book today.

Local football....

Congratulations to our local football team for being in the Grand Final tomorrow. Shirley's son Adam is playing & we wish them good luck. Bring home the cup boys, I think it is our turn as we have come so close so many times.

More new fabric.......

How would you like to whip up a quilt in an hour & be ready for quilting? Well we have the perfect idea for you. Just arrived is this beautiful cheat fabric in 2 colour ways. All you need to do is add a couple of borders & there you have it..... a lovely new quilt. Kits available now.

What's new.....

New fabric seems to be arriving weekly, keeping us busy making samples. Just arrived is the beautiful Whymsical range "Buttons & Blooms" Just the perfect fabric for making all your sewing bags, needle cases etc. etc. The feature panel has 2 small panels & 1 large panel. We have used the 2 smaller panels for this cute bag, which leaves the larger panel for a wall hanging or machine cover or whatever else you may think of.

Girls In Stitches......

Had a call from Lisa to let us know that her patterns, along with Viv's are on their way. Have received Kerry's patterns too. So there is no excuse now, we can start cutting up kits. So much to do so little time. Only 3 weeks to go, time is running out for registrations. There are still some places left. Just received Vignette #4 & it looks great. Love the article about the hens. Have posted out the orders so you can expect them in your letterbox within the next few days.

Good time at Glenwillan......

As usual we had a great time at Glenwillan. The beautiful homestead is the perfect location for our yearly weekend of stitching. Although I think there is as much about eating as there is about sewing. We all enjoyed the variety of food bought by each of the girls & shared many cooking tips. We were all happy with what we achieved for the weekend: the georgous painted quilt panels by Elaine & Narelle, the Geese in Circles by Margaret & Patricia, the Christmas Stitchery by Maria, the variety of finished projects by Cheryl, Janet & Ruth. A shame I forgot about the photos. Oh, & Collingwood won the football!!!!

Glenwillan weekend....

It's that time of the year when we host a weekend at the beautiful Glenwillan Homestead. Look foward to another relaxing time. Some of the girls chose their own projects to work on for the weekend while some are working on a small quilt designed by Lessa Siegall. Keep posted for an update of the weekend.

Roaming the Outback.......

Roof top
This has been our home for the last 2 weeks. I left the shop in Shirley's very capable hands & escaped to outback central Australia. We travelled up the Birdsville track across the Plenty Highway (which is really a graded track) to Alice Springs & then home via the Old Ghan Railway line. Our amazing experiences included crossing the Cooper Creek on a make shift ferry, as the creek only floods about every 30 years: Henley on the Todd in Alice Springs: flight over Lake Eyre which is 60% full & teeming with birdlife & of course the natural beauty & peace of the outback, which we love. There is nothing so relaxing as sitting around a campfire under millions of stars. Our amazing outback looks fantastic at present after the rains. There are carpets of wildflowers & bird-life in abundance. Even the salt bush looks lush. The magnificent natural colours of grey blues of the foliage, gold of the wattle & red of the soil are inspirations for the painter & of course the patchworker. Back to work again & look forward to our next outback experience.

Retreat update......

Yes our retreat is still happening on October 8th & 9th. We are busy making final plans & as soon as our samples arrive we will be cutting up kits & packing the goodie bags. Unfortunately Rosalie & Leanne are unable to join us for reasons beyond their control, but we are very lucky to have Viv from Viv's Creations & Lisa from Fig'n Berries, joining Kerry from My Favorite Things. There will be lots patterns, kits, food & lots of fun. Phone or Email us with confirmation of your booking as soon as possible & we will look forward to seeing you all.
