August 2010
Today was another wet, windy & cold day. But we were very warm & comfortable in our new shop. We are enjoying the benefits already. We must thank everyone who sent us well wishes & those who came in to see us. We have had 2 very busy days. A big thank-you also to everyone who offered help after the storm & to those who washed water effected quilts & samples, & helped us with the move. All the hard work & late nights has been worth it.
More mess than damage....
August 24, 2010
Today we opened our new shop after cleaning up after the hail storm that caused more mess than damage. After we moved the undamaged stock to the new shop we realised that we were lucky not have more stock damaged. What was planned as an orderly move turned into a chaotic evacuation.
Hail stones & the dreadful a mess.We really did not know where to start.
The water still dripping off the shelves & the colour has run in the stitchery.
There were times when we thought we would never be ready to reopen to-day but with the help of friends we transformed this to this...................
to this...........................
and this.................
We are very happy with the look of our new shop. It is much lighter, more welcoming & spacious. We look forward to serving our customers with the same friendly service. For those who live nearby, we welcome you to our opening night on Thursday 16th September with a Trunk Show by Sue Daley. Keep posted for more information.
We still have a few places for Sue's Workshop on Friday 17th & our "Girls in Stitches" retreat on October 2nd.
New Address.....
August 23, 2010
At 7.00pm tonight we took down the black plastic from the front of the shop, ready for business tomorrow. It has been a massive job to shift our stock, fittings & everything else that we have collected over the past years. Seeing it now in the bigger shop, I'm not sure how it ever fitted before. Keep posted for photos & more info. for now I'm off to bed for a good rest.
Hail Storm....
August 19, 2010
We have just arrived home after moving the undamaged stock from our shop to the new shop after a hail storm flooded our shop & many others in the main street of Warracknabeal. At 6.00pm the storm hit, causing a lot of damage. We have decided to close the shop until next Tuesday when we hope our new location will be ready for business. We are lucky that most of the fabric is undamaged, but all the scrapbook papers & card stock is unusable. I will post tomorrow with some photos.
We have started to move....
August 16, 2010
Our dear hubbies were busy all day yesterday building new shelves for our new store room. We had the job of sorting through 7 years of things "that we just could not throw out". As craft people & collectors we are like bower birds. Well we have sorted & shifted most of store room goodies. Next weekend we will move the shop fittings & stock. Lifting all those bolts of fabric will give us a good workout. May save a visit to the gym.
Sue Daley Truck Show....
August 12, 2010
Come & celebrate our move, by checking out Sue Daley's Truck Show on Thursday September 16th at 7.00pm. We will start the evening with drinks & nibbles & then Sue will show her beautiful quilts & give some tips. Then we will share a cuppa & cake. Sounds too good to be true. We are so privileged to have such a talented & enthusiastic lady come to visit us. We still have a few vacancies for her workshop on Friday, so be quick to book.
Secret revealed!!!!!!!
August 10, 2010
It is now official & we are very excited to share our news. We are shifting QUILTERS HARVEST to a new location. We are not moving far, just down the street to 104 Scott St. The shop we are moving to is a much lighter & welcoming shop with a glass front. We will have a bigger classroom area & more modern facilities. Details of our relocation celebrations will be posted soon.
Gift Fair
August 09, 2010
What a frantic weekend we had. Up at 3.00am, to leave for Melbourne to go to the Gift Fair. This event is huge. We walked from 9.00am until 5.00pm for 2 days & we still did not see it all. The poor feet & legs were saying "stop" by the end of Sunday. Despite all that, we had a great time. We decided that we would stock a small range of gift ware that we hope will compliment the fabrics etc. already in the shop. It's a pity we have a budget, as there were so many beautiful things we could order to temp you at the shop. We hope you love what we have chosen. The dear hubbies came too & they managed to fill in the time doing what interested them......not shopping at the Gift Fair. The best thing about the weekend was that Shirley's son got tickets to the Geelong/Collingwood Football match for us & yes, you guessed it, I'm a very excited Collingwood supporter.
Surprise visit....
August 05, 2010
What a great surprise we had this morning when we had a visit from Nel & Jacques of Creative Abundance call in to see us. It is always so exciting to have such well known people in our industry come to visit us in our little country town. We proudly showed them around our shop & chatted over a coffee. We shared our thrill of having Natalie ,Gail & Melaniecoming for our retreat in October. Thank you so much to them for detouring to Warracknabeal on their way to Adelaide.
