July 2010

Weekend in Melbourne

Must be getting older, the trip down & back to Melbourne in the day seems a lot further than it used to.  Shirley & I went down to the Craft Fair & Victorian Quilters Exhibition. Congratulations to Kaye Hoffman, Vicki Jenkin & Glenis Miatki on their awards. It is great to see the country girls being awarded for their talent. Well done also to the other local girls who entered. There certainly were many brilliant quilts on display. We enjoyed our day admiring the quilts & wandering around the trade stalls looking for new ideas & inspiration. It was good to see many familiar faces - Barb Smith, Leanne & Jillian at Homespun & many more. This week we will be sending out the new Newsletter so keep watch for it in the letterbox.

Down in the Garden

Our Down in the Garden has arrived back from the quilter & looks great. This is a 10 month Block of the Month by Leanne's House. Once again Leanne has designed this delightful quilt with stitcheries, applique & piecing. Call for more details.

Exciting news!!!!!

We have so much happening at QH during the next few months. We have just been advised of some very exciting news, but we cannot share it yet. You will have to keep posted.

Amazing coincidence....

I was looking through the newest mags at the newsagents & was amazed to see Sue Daley promoted by Patchwork & Quilting with a DVD on the front cover. Hop out & get your copy. Sue has made English Paper Piecing fashionable again. We are very excited to be making the final arrangements for her visit to us on Friday September 17th. Numbers will be limited so make your booking as soon as possible so that you can be assured of meeting this very talented & enthusiastic tutor & designer. I can guarantee you will have a great time.

Time flies!!!!!!

I cannot believe it is 3 weeks since I last added to our blog site. Sorry to all the regular visitors who have noticed my absence. The weather has been very cold & damp, not so good for gardening , but perfect to catch up with some stitching. We are getting excited about our workshops with Sue of Patchwork with Busy Fingers & our Girls in Stitches retreat. Gail, Natalie & Melly will soon have their samples ready, so that we can start cutting up our kits in preparation for the big day. More details about each of these workshops will be posted soon, but in the mean time, hop over to their sites to see what they are up to. Just double click on their highlighted names & you will find yourself there.
