Shirl in a Whirl..............
March 31, 2010
Shirley has been in a bit of a whirl lately. She has been busy finishing samples for the shop, visiting family in Melbourne & helping her daughter shift house in Adelaide. In a hurry as usual, she rushed off to work. not noticing that she was wearing two different coloured shoes. A good excuse to pop into the shoe store next door for a new pair of matching shoes.
Classes
March 28, 2010
Our first class for the year was on Thursday night. 5 girls came along to make the bag of their choice. Later in the evening the bags were well on the way to being finished. I'm sure they will all be enjoying using their bags soon.
On Friday night our Working Girls Classes began. We all enjoyed an antipasto tea & a lovely wine. Most girls bought along a project that they had been working on for some. time. It was great to see everyone with renewed enthusiasm to finish off some WIPS.
New shop samples:
March 18, 2010
It has been a bit quiet at the shop, so we have been busy making up new samples. We love Gail Pan's Laila's Garden quilt & decided to make a sample. We have used lovely dusty pinks & browns. This quilt is available as a kit or pattern.
We have also made the sample of Melly & Me Raspberry Ripple Bag. This is also available as a pattern or kit.
Social Life....
March 18, 2010
What a busy weekend we had. Shirley went off to Melbourne with a friend to see her idol TOM JONES & then finished it off with some retail therapy, as you do. We country girls love our trips to the city. I went to the CELLebration Ball which was organised to raise money for the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre. We had a great time dancing to the music of Wilbur Wilde & his band. The music bought back lots of old memories. Quilters Harvest proudly donated a quilt to be raffled. Some lucky lady can now enjoy this quilt.
Good intentions....
March 11, 2010
It was my intention to blog more regularly, but when I went to my trusty computer, our Blog site seemed to be having a malfunction. As I am no expert with this modern technology, I had no idea what to do about it. Alas tonight when I checked, I found that it has mysteriously fixed itself. Amazing!!!!!! We have had a busy time this week unpacking more fabric. Must tidy up the shop to find room for it all.
Shirley has gone off to Melbourne today to see Tom Jones. Yes, she has taken the 4 hour trip to see the show. The things us country girls do for some entertainment. I'm sure she is having a great time.

Welcome Autumn
March 01, 2010
You would think the weather knows the date. Today is the first day of Autumn & we have a very cool southerly wind blowing. Yesterday we were water skiing & today we need a jacket. However great weather for staying indoors stitching. Today we had our first Sit & Sew days for the year. 7 enthusiastic ladies came along with the projects of their choice to work on. It was noted that some had not been worked on since last year. But that is what it is all about, making the time to come along to sit & sew.
