December 2009

Merry Christmas

Well, time has run out if you have not done your Christmas shopping. I hope you will find lots of gifts under the tree & that you all have a great time with family & friends. Shirley & I wish all our blog readers & shop customers a happy, safe & blessed Christmas. We will be enjoying time with our families. Shirley has her family at her place for meals & I am being pampered, with tea at our daughters. My family is feeling sorry for me after having more surgery last week. Hopefully this was successful & I look forward to being a better business partner next year. Shirley & I are planning on spending some time during the holiday season. stitching new samples ready for next year. Keep posted to see what surprises we have for you.

12 Days of Christmas Block of the Month.....

Yes, it's only 12 days until Christmas. Viv Robinson has designed a delightful quilt called 12 Days of Christmas. Shirley has been having a great time making our shop sample & its looks great. This quilt is quite different to what we have done before with raw edge applique, machine embroidery & some stitchery. It is a bit prim, and we love it.

12 Days 'till Christmas.....

Yes, it' only 12 days until Christmas. I hope by now you have started your shopping. We had our local street celebration last Friday night to get everyone in the right mood. Christmas at this time of the year is not very convenient in this part of the country. All the farmers are out busily trying to harvest their crops, making it difficult for them to participate in all the christmas activities.  At least the kids all had a great time.

New stock

It's just like Christmas at the shop, we have so much stock arriving. We often forget what we have ordered & then when it arrives we get a big surprise. This week we have had several lots of fabric arrive.  We chose the beautiful rich red/olive range of Wiscasset from Moda.

These 3 chenille fabrics arrived this week. Beautiful colours & we thought they would be great to make a vest or jacket.

We also stock a lovely range of silk ribbon & some of the beautiful variegated threads by Cottage Garden. These threads are beautiful to work with & are just great for stitcheries.  Give a call or Email us for more information about any of the stock shown here. Great as Christmas gifts are the Dolly Varden Thread Holders & the cute little felt pin cushions.

The Traders in our little town of Warracknabeal are having a Christmas Celebration on December 11th and all the businesses are being encouraged to promote themselves. We are having a display of  Scrapbook & Patchwork Christmas items, made by our customers.  We are looking forward to showing off the work of these talented people. Below is a Scrapbook Canvass, beautifully made by Di & displayed in the shop.Scrapbook canvas

Gails Bag

Jo from the farm sent us a photo of her bag that she made at our retreat last year. Gail Pan was one of our lovely tutors & this is one of the projects she designed for us. All the girls received kits to make this bag & the pattern is now available from our shop. It is always good to see the finished projects.

Ho ho ho!!!!

The Minyip girls arrived on Tuesday all loaded up with goodies. They came with a shared lunch for our Christmas breakup. They are such great girls. Each month they meet at our shop & they work on their projects. This year they have been doing the beautiful quilt "Houses in Common". They have enjoyed the variety that this quilt offers, with some colourwash painting, stitching, applique & machine piecing. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch & they presented Shirley & I with a huge basket of beautiful home made biscuits. How lucky are we????? Here we are ready to enjoy our lunch. You just cannot beat country cooking.
