April 2009

So Inspirational......................

What a great day we had at Quilt Fabric Delights retreat "Inspired Stitches". The scene was set when we were greeted at the door & given a beautiful name tag and then it was off to find a seat & to greet other enthusiasts & friends. Shirley & I met up with our S.A. friends Jo & Carolyn. We checked the samples of the projects that were to keep us busy for the day & found a great display of gorgeous little projects. DSCN1422          The goodie bag that we all received was full of surprises too.

Our tutors Leanne , Rosalie, Melanie, & Janelle are all so enthusiastic about what they do that you cannot help but feel excited too. They all had a display of their most recent designs. They have so many things to tempt us that it is hard to decide what to do. At the end of the day we did not achieve much, as we spent most of the time chatting & checking out what other people were doing. But really that is what it is all about.

Shirley & Melly had some fun with Melly's stuffed animals. They are so cute!!!!!!!

Look out for Melly's new book which will feature some of these and much, much more.

Janelle & I look like we are going shopping with all these beautiful bags. Janelle & her family made a holiday of this trip to Adelaide from their home in NSW & took the chance to visit some friends along the way. Working in this industry, does not really feel like work at all as we get to meet so many talented & modest people. Janelle's display was clear & bright which reflects her bubbly personality. Must find time to make some of the bright bags.

Shirley with our friends Jo & Carolyn enjoyed catching up with Leanne of Leanne's House.

Leanne had designed some lovely place mats with her trade mark delightful stitching.

Patterns for all the projects we made at the weekend will be available soon, so keep posted for more details.

A big "Thank-You" to Sarah for organising  this great weekend. Let's do it all again next year.

Here Sarah takes a short break with her two delightful sisters who were kept busy all day making sure that we were having a great time.

One hubbie asked on the way home where we are off to next...Port Douglas, Tasmania?????Sounds good to us.

New products:

It is always exciting to see what's new in the Patchwork world. Have just read that Sue Daley Designs  has a new book out & it looks great. Hop over to her site to check it out. We are also looking forward to seeing the exciting new patterns by Natalie of Cinderberry Stitches. We are so lucky to have such talented local designers.

Lucky Winners

Thank-you to all those people who made a comment about our quilt "Midsummer Garden" quilt. It was great to read all the comments and to have so many say that the mistakes really did not matter as the quilt still looked great. I did in fact intend to reverse the colours of the 2nd. block, but I did not intend to turn blocks 2,3 & 7 the other way. I still love the quilt & I think these mistakes add a quirky feel to it. The lucky pattern winners are Laine & Linda T. Could you please Email me with your address & I will post off your free pattern. We have kits & patterns available for those of you who were not so lucky.

Inspired Stitches

Hope you all had a great Easter. The weather here was absolutely beautiful. This year we chose to stay home & have some time quiet.  We participated in the local Easter Festival & were amazed at the visitors who came to town. Shirley took some rare time off & went to Loxton on the beautiful Murray River. Now that most of the public holidays are over for the year, we will get back to some routine in the shop. It is now only 9 days before Inspired Stitches retreat. Yes, we are looking forward to this weekend.

Mystery Small Project Club

We are about to start our Mystery Small Project Club. For 6 months members will receive the pattern & fabric to make a small project which would be suitable as a gift for a crafty friend or to use yourself. These patterns will be chosen from reputable designers such as Leanne House, Cinderberry Stitches, Gail Pan Designs and many more. The cost will be $25.00 per month. Register now to finish the projects before Christmas. Below is a sample of the type of project will be sending you.

The Little Lady Bug  Email or phone for details & put a little mystery in your lives.

Going visiting:

We are looking forward to our trip to Adelaide to Quilt Fabric Delights retreat called Inspired Stitches. When I checked the web site I noticed that Sarah is also very excited about the weekend, in fact she is counting down the days. It will be great for us to be able to relax & enjoy the day with like minded people & the very talented tutors. We are taking our ever patient hubbies with us, or rather they are taking us, so we will have to treat them to a nice meal. Will post some pics & tell you all about it when we return.

Friends For Christmas

Since we made & displayed the sample of this gorgeous Christmas quilt by Lynette Anderson "Friends for Christmas" we have had many inquiries for the pattern. As the book is out of print Lynette has produced the pattern as a Block of the Month as a 6 month project. We have the pattern packs available or as a Block of the Month. Phone or Email for more details. Thank you Lynette for giving more girls the chance to make this delight quilt.

Update

Had a recent visit from a former Warracknabeal resident who told us she loved keeping up with our blogs. Well, as you can see it has been a while since I last visited our site. It has been a messy start to the year, which can only get better. Shirley's special Nanny died & I went back to hospital all in the same week. Once again Donna & Belinda capably looked after the shop while we were away. The only good thing about all this recovery time is that I have been able to do some stitching.

Midsummers Garden Display

I finally finished our Sample of                     Gail Pan's delightful Midsummer Garden Quilt.

We chose the beautiful Hemming House fabrics & love the result. Unfortunately my mind is a bit muddled these days & I have set some of the blocks the wrong way.

If you can spot the mistakes & leave a comment  by April 17th. we will give away 2 patterns to the lucky people who we randomly chose.
