Shopping at the Quilt Market

Back again after a busy weekend in Melbourne at the Quilt Market. We had a great time meeting up with old friends and making new ones. All the designers had lots of exciting new ideas to tempt us & keep us motivated. After telling each other that we do not need any more fabric we could not resist temptation & we found some lovely fabrics that we just had to have. Unfortunately they will not be arriving for a few months, which will give us some time to decide on some exciting new projects. We met up with Di, who was helping at the Homespun Stand & here she is with Shirley.

We were invited to the Homespun Cocktail Party. Shirley enjoyed the oysters & my share too. We listened to a very interesting marketing presentation. So, yes we were working.

We also went to a presentation by the extremely talented Amy Butler. We had a beautiful insight into her life as a designer. I think we will be seeing her designs around for a long while.

The girls from Creative Abundance were on the stand showing us their new patterns & stopped for a few moments for a photo. Sonja from Giggle Buttons was having a browse too with Rosalie, Leanne & Gail.

Country Threads advert.

Check out our most recent advertisement in the Country Threads magazine featuring our latest Block of the Month called Piece, Love & Applique. We have used beautiful soft grey blues and pink/reds to make this quilt. It is hanging behind the shop counter & has been admired by many of our customers. Numbers will be limited so that we can be sure to provide fabrics as near as possible to those advertised.

Love & Piece BOM  The quilt measures 62" x 82". It is machine pieced with applique highlights. It costs $35.00 per month for 12 months. Email or phone us for more details.

Machine Quilting Workshop

Vicki Jenkin from Horsham conducted a Machine Quilting class. 8 girls were treated to a great day of learning the tricks to successful machine quilting. Vicki is a very talented quilter who has been rewarded for her excellance, with prizes at the Melbourne & Sydney Quilt Shows.

Vicki Jenkin  Vicki shows off one of her beautifully quilted quilts. We all decided that we needed to do lots of practice before we reached this standard. But the girls were very determined to learn the skill & you caan see the concentration on their faces.

Time to catch up.......

Sorry I have not updated for a while. However I have had a lovely time reading the blogs of the girls who went to Houston. What a great experience to see so much inspiration in the one place. Thank you for sharing your trips with us all. It has also been time for me to do some gardening. I have come to the conclusion that it really is not going to rain again like it used to, so I have been busy planting more drought tolerant plants. At least the roses have survived & look good.
